As a pioneer, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors plays a strong leadership role in the electrical industry and its many organizations and associations. Because of its reputation for fairness and code-compliance, the association has long been labeled the Keystone of the Electrical Industry. Like the keystone, the association plays a cohesive role among testing agencies, standards organizations, manufacturers, distributors, and contractors.

Large Wind Turbine Permitting in the U.S.

With thousands of large wind turbines being constructed in the U.S. every year, a need for a guideline for permitting these structures has been identified. To assist in the development of this guideline, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is developing a document to help developers, contractors and inspections professionals understand what is necessary for permitting these projects. AWEA is requesting help from industry professionals, so please take a few minutes to answer the 11 question survey at the link in the message below.

Underwriters Laboratories Announces Personnel Certification Program for Solar Photovoltaic System Installers

If you’re reading this, we can assume you probably went to high school, maybe college? Imagine that you went to live or work for an extended period of time in, for example, Chile, Spain or Mexico — you would have to learn Spanish eventually, right? How long would it take you? Most likely you would be able to learn some common words and key phrases quickly, especially with a little help. But what about real communication, such as safety training and discussion of technical issues? This takes time and real effort to learn, and requires access to learning materials and teachers.

UL University and IAEI Present "Analysis of Changes for the 2008 NEC" Course Online!

This 12-hour online course has been prepared with the objective of providing coverage of the major changes to the 2008 National Electrical Code (NEC). Great care has been taken to select changes that provide the best, most complete information and greatest benefit. The goal is to make it easier to follow the progress of the proposed changes and to understand how the changes were developed and finally accepted. You are strongly encouraged to have a copy of the 2008 NEC and the Analysis of Changes book as a reference to accompany this training.

Money tight?

Did you know that IAEI continues to work on your behalf to devise ways to save you money? Right on the home page of www.iaei.org, there is a link to “Exciting New Member Benefits” that opens up a whole world of money savings opportunities right at our fingertips. I was able to take advantage right away, as I had recently planned a long weekend trip to North Carolina back at the beginning of February and was to able enjoy a 10% discount for two nights stay at a Ramada Inn.
