For nearly 75 years, the IAEI has brought unbiased focus to interpreting the National Electrical Code and teaching safe installation and use of electricity.
In the earlier years, most of the teaching was done in informal discussions. Then those sessions grew into regular training meetings.
In the 1980s, the IAEI began a serious thrust toward writing and publishing materials that could be disseminated globally through seminars, chapter presentations, various electronic media, and the Internet.
Composed originally of only electrical inspectors, membership in the IAEI has expanded to include any persons or organizations in the electrical industry who wish to focus on safety.
Today, the IAEI has a broad membership base but it remains the voice of the electrical inspectors—those who have the responsibility of making sure the consumer is safe.
| 75th Anniversary (September 7—13, 2003) |

The 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee, held on September 7-13, 2003, was a great success! Held at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, near Orlando, Florida, the meetings were a combined effort involving all six sections of the IAEI and international members.
The meeting included educational seminars, including reports from code panel representatives from each panel. |
— Code Panelists Questions and Answers (Microsoft Word document)
The answers to the
code questions are given as they were submitted by the code
panelist. They do not necessarily reflect the official
position or interpretation of the IAEI nor should they
be considered as an official interpretation of the Code.
An “Editor’s Note” shown in brackets has been
provided when additional clarification was necessary,
which also is not an official interpretation. An
interpretation is only official when expressed from the
applicable authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). |
