DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to work from our Richmond location. The selected individual will perform the following functions: administer, enforce compliance with state and federal related regulations and provide technical assistance to the design professional, contractors, builders, code officials, state agencies and the general public; conduct inspections and perform plan reviews for the Virginia Statewide Building Code and Industrialized Building Safety Regulations; assist in development of state and national code changes and provide consultative services for state agencies and local code officials.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE:
Knowledge of state building codes and related regulations. Basic knowledge of trade construction practices and code requirements. Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections for complex project and perform plan reviews for commercial and residential projects; to do research and analyze code requirements; to resolve and negotiate successful solutions for code compliance; and to effectively communicate orally and in written format with stakeholders. Knowledge and ability to understand and use inspection computerized software programs. Knowledge of basic fire protection, egress, structural design and construction methodologies. High School diploma with preference of construction or code inspections/plan review experience in residential and commercial construction or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred certifications and/or must be able to obtain certifications as a Building or Fire Protection Inspector and a Building or Fire Protection Plan Reviewer. Valid Virginia driver’s license required. |
