How do I find code information for a state/city/ county/province?

You can find a state/territory or any local jurisdiction by clicking on the links in the left column—this will lead you to a page that will list all of the available jurisdictions that you can find.

You can also use the Google™ search engine at the top of the page. Simply type in the name of the jurisdiction you are searching for (for example, directConnect Georgia), and the page will be listed in the results.

If you do not see a jurisdiction listed, and would like to add it or give us the contact information so that we can contact the local jurisdiction, please use our Alteration Form. You can also contact us directly at directCONNECT@iaei.org.

What is an AHJ?

The acronym AHJ stands for authority having jurisdiction. Authorities Having Jurisdiction are those government officials who are the final authority on questions in a particular area (or jurisdiction).

Why isn't city/county "X" listed? How can I get city/county "X" added?

IAEI has searched web sites, state documents, and other resources for information regarding these regulations; however, some jurisdictions do not publish this information or do not have licensing requirements.

If you wish to add information about a particular jurisdiction, please let us know by either filling out the Alteration form, or by emailing us at directCONNECT@iaei.org. Include all of the information that you can about the jurisdiction and/or provide a link to the jurisdiction's home page.

Where does the licensing and code information come from?

First, IAEI tried to go directly to the source, such as city, county, state or country building departments. We then accessed other resources (such as NECA's State Electrical Regulations document), to see if we could find any information there. We have also relied upon our IAEI members, emailing them to find out data about their particular state. If you find an error, or wish to add something, please use our Alterations form, or email us direct at directCONNECT@iaei.org.

I work in the building dept. of city/county "X" and I would like to see our jurisdiction listed. What can I do?

Send us an e-mail and provide the most information that you can regarding the current code, licensing regulations, and contact data; if your jurisdiction has a website, please include that. Also, if your jurisdictional website contains all of the code and regulation information we need, we can just copy and paste off of there, just let us know! We can also add your town's link to the page so that people can directly access your site.

Some of the information you have listed is incorrect or outdated. Who do I notify?

You can change the information by completing the Alteration form. This form can also be used for adding a local town or jurisdiction (or even another country!) You can also send an e-mail with the updated information to directCONNECT@iaei.org.
