It is the desire of the city to adopt, in all respects, the various standard codes relating to building, fire prevention, gas, electrical, grading, housing, mechanical, plumbing and swimming pools. It is further the intent of the city to enforce the latest edition of the following Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes as adopted and amended by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

B. The adoption of these codes is done to facilitate proper inspection activities by the city of Auburn and Barrow County, Georgia relating to construction and to maintenance of buildings within the corporate limits of said town and relating to public safety, health and general welfare.

(1) Standard Building Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(2) National Electrical Code as published by the National Fire Protection Association.

(3) Standard Gas Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(4) Standard Mechanical Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(5) Georgia State Plumbing Code or the Standard Plumbing Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(6) Council of American Building Officials One and Two Family Dwelling Code, with the exception of Part V, Plumbing, (chapters 20--25) of such code.

(7) Georgia State Energy Code for Buildings as adopted by the State Building Administrative Board pursuant to an Act approved April 10, 1978 (1978 Ga. Laws, page 2212), as such code existed on September 30, 1991.

(8) Standard Fire Prevention Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(9) Standard Housing Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).

(10) Standard Amusement Device Code (published by the Southern Building Code Congress International).
