Electrical Codes
The new version of the Uniform Code is based on the 2003 editions of the I-Codes and consists of:
Residential Code (Part 1220)
Building Code (Part 1221),
Plumbing Code (Part 1222)
Mechanical Code (Part 1223)
Fuel Gas Code (Part 1224)
Fire Code (Part 1225)
Property Maintenance Code (Part 1226)
Existing Building Code (Part 1227)

The Building Code establishes life safety construction requirements assembly, business, educational, factory industrial, high hazard, institutional, mercantile, multi-family residential, storage and utility and miscellaneous buildings. This document references the 2005 NEC.

The Residential Code addresses one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses not more than three stories in height with a separate means egress and their accessory structures. Part VIII of this document was retained and contains the electrical provisions based on the 2002 NEC. The Residential Code does not prohibit use of the 2005 NEC, and can be used if the regulated party chooses.
