Your job is to ensure that electricity is used safely everywhere. As a member of IAEI, you can extend the reach of safety. IAEI offers many avenues in which to pursue this goal. Here are a few of the services that we use to promote electrical services within the industry.

Code Proposals

As a member, we welcome you to contribute your expertise in promoting code proposals to the NEC code-making panels. IAEI supports two members of each code-making panels, and we encourage you to write your proposals or comments for code issues.

Electrical Regulations & Licensing

This section of the IAEI.org website summarizes the major provisions of electrical code, enforcement, inspector licensing requirements (if available), and contractor/electrician licensing requirements for states, selected countries, and local jurisdictions throughout the U.S. If you want to help out, send us information on your local jurisdiction, and we can get started!

“I am Safety Smart” Program

I am Safety Smart! is designed to support educators nationwide in teaching safety-conscious behavior. Professionally trained electrical inspectors will share Safety Smart lessons with children 4 to 14 years old and help them develop life safety skills. You can be part of this exciting program by volunteering to become a Safety Ambassador. Join IAEI and UL in working together for a safe world.

Disaster Relief Volunteer Program

As clean-ups from natural disasters begins, IAEI understands that sometimes the local inspectors or building officials need help. IAEI’s goal is to coordinate electrical inspectors and other building code officials in an effort to help restore electrical power to homes and businesses. Volunteer or request help from volunteers through our online link.
