Solar Permitting Plan Review Course | December 7, 2017

The WVIAEI in conjunction with the WV Code Officials Association are the recipients of a grant from the U. S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative allowing us to conduct a Solar Permitting Plan Review Course.  This full-day training (six-hours of instruction plus breaks) will walk participants through the review of a complete permit plan application to evaluate its compliance with building, fire, and electrical codes relevant to West Virginia. 

This training is appropriate for code officials, inspectors, electricians, PV installers, and WV Fire Marshals and has been approved for 6 hours of CEUs through ICC and the IAEI.  Registration fee will provide breaks, lunch, training materials and CEUs.

Course Instructor: David Humphrey, Electrical Plan Review Engineer for Henrico County VA, President of the IAEI Southern Section, Chair of NEC CMP 9, IAEI Seminar Instructor, and NCPCCI Electrical Test Development Committee Member.

Location: Days Hotel, Flatwoods, WV (Room reservations are available by calling 304-265-7032.  The room block is under WV Code Officials at a rate of $89/night until November 30th)

On March 14, 2016 the State of West Virginia legislature voted to adopt the new building code rules package with an effective date of July 1, 2016. The new rules package includes the following 2015 ICC Family of codes which includes the IBC, IRC with the deletion of chapter 11 (Energy Code), IPC, IMC, IFGC, IPMC, 2009 IECC (Residential), 2007 ANSI/ASHRE standard 90.1 (Commercial), 2015 IEBC, 2015 ISPSC, and the 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) without amendments. This action demonstrates the state Fire Marshal's office as well as the legislature's dedication to electrical and building safety for all citizens of the state. Source: NEMA Code Alert
