Press Release: IAEI Reaches Out to the Electrical Community During COVID-19

March 29, 2020

UPDATE - Due to developing concerns with COVID-19, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors strongly recommends that all Sections, Chapters, and Divisions follow  federal, state, and local guidelines when scheduling events or continuing with events as planned until future notice.

While this is a recommendation and not a mandate, we trust the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) expertise and guidance. Any decision you make regarding Section, Chapter, and Division meetings should be based first and foremost on what’s in the best interest of attendees’ health and well-being, and directly influenced by the CDC timeline and guidance from federal, state, and local government requirements and guidelines.

We also want  to recognize an important consideration: As an organization of electrical professionals, it is essential to keep our members and  their communities safe. We all share a  professional responsibility to model social distancing and not contribute to the spread of the virus.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and unwavering commitment during this time.

March 16, 2020

On behalf of the IAEI Board of Directors and Staff, we would like to extend our deepest concern and support for our members, friends, partners, and customers impacted by the current coronavirus (COVID-19) health emergency. The health of our members and industry partners is of utmost importance.

IAEI continues to monitor the developments of COVID-19 and its impact on our members, operations, and events. We are accessing the information as this crisis evolves in order to understand the extent of its impact and will adjust accordingly. IAEI is committed to sharing vital information and updates with our association community and local sections, chapters, and divisions through a variety of channels.

In an effort to protect the health and well-being of staff, and visitors in our Richardson office, IAEI will operate on a virtual basis beginning Tuesday, March 17. We are not closing operations. We will continue to serve you and conduct our business on a virtual basis through March 30, 2020.

Staff is working closely with our section, chapter, and division boards to define and implement contingency plans and best practices around operations and events.

At this time, there are no plans to cancel or postpone the IAEI section meetings. Chapter and division meetings and training sessions are being assessed locally by their boards, and some local meetings have already been canceled at this time. We strongly recommend you periodically check with your local chapter or division for meeting updates. We will communicate any updates as they become available.

IAEI encourages all attendees at our meetings and our staff to follow basic personal hygiene measures. We ask that you continue to monitor new developments and follow the recommendations and guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.

Thank you for being a local member.
