Electrical Inspectors? Yes, (ICC, NCCPI, CEI) The state requires all electrical inspectors and electricians to be certified. The State requires certification of inspectors but the enforcement is at the local level, normally the Building Official (BO). Each BO determines what certification they will accept. In many cases, this is the ICC only.

The State only requires certification of electricians working for electrical contractors. Electricians working for other types of contractors, building, sign, swimming pool, or another specialty, are not required to be certified. Currently, there is no enforcement of the certification for electricians.

For additional licensing information, please contact the state board or local jurisdiction in which you reside.
