Idaho Continuing Education Requirements and NEC Adoption

Quick Fact: The state of Idaho requires all electrical installations to comply with the NEC, which they adopt on a traditional three-year cycle. Based on past adoptions, they are also likely to be adopting the NEC-2020 within the year.
License Renewal & CEU Requirements
Master Electrician, Journeyman Electricians, Limited Electrical Installers
HOURS REQUIRED: 24
RENEWAL CYCLE: Triennial
RENEWAL DATE: Licensure date
Units of time — Contact Hours. The twenty-four (24) hours of instruction shall consist of eight (8) hours of code update covering changes included in the latest edition of the National Electrical Code, eight (8) hours of Code-Update training, and eight (8) hours of industry-related training.
Reciprocates — For Journeyman Electricians, Idaho has journeyman electrician licensing reciprocity with the states of Oregon and Montana. For Master Electricians, Idaho has master electrician licensing reciprocity with the state of Oregon. If you tested for your general supervisor electrician’s license in the state of Oregon, send a copy of that current license with the completed application.
