South Dakota Continuing Education Requirements and NEC Adoption

Quick Fact: South Dakota is one of the few states in which all electrical wiring installations must be inspected by a state electrical inspector. Seventeen state inspectors (as of October 2019) cover seventeen different districts, both commercial and residential. South Dakota is another state likely to adopt the NEC-2020 this year based on a three-year code cycle. (Send us an update):


License Renewal & CEU Requirements

Electrical Administrator, Master Electrician or Electrician

HOURS REQUIRED:  16
CODE-RELATED: 8
RENEWAL CYCLE: Biennial

RENEWAL DATE: 6/30
 
Units of timeContact Hours. Of the 16 hours, 8 hours must be related to the National Electrical Code and 8 hours must be non-code related.
