Quick Fact: When the Utah Legislature adopted the NEC-2014 and 2015 I-codes back in March 2016, a provision was added that the residential codes would be on a six-year code cycle, rather than a three-year. (Send us an update):

Electricians

HOURS REQUIRED:  16
CODE-RELATED: 12
RENEWAL CYCLE: Biennial

RENEWAL DATE: 11/30
 
Units of timeContact Hours. Of the 16 hours required, 12 hours must be related to the National Electrical Code (core education). The additional 4 hours may be code-related or be in professional education.

Contractors

HOURS REQUIRED:  6
CODE-RELATED: 3
RENEWAL CYCLE: Biennial

RENEWAL DATE: 11/30
 
Units of time — Contact Hours. Of the 6 hours required, 3 hours must be related to the National Electrical Code (core education). The additional 3 hours may be code-related or be in professional education.
