House Bill 2018—H7773 Will do, when passed into law what many of us in the industry have been wanting for many years. When passed into law this Bill will force the Building Commission to put the latest edition of the NEC into law as of January 1st of the year it is dated. This will stop any confusion for the adoption of our code. The bill has been placed in the House Corporation Committee. An announcement of a hearing on it will be posted as soon as available.

Update 4/19/2018

House Bill H-7773

Our adoption of the NEC Bill has been heard and received with great enthusiasm in the Corporation Committee. The bill will be amended with the following:

Regulatory analysis – Add (c) All Building and Fire Codes are exempt.

As many of you know the holdup of the adoption of the 2017 is due to the fiscal Impact study now in place on all regulations. This amendment will keep all building codes out of these studies in the future.

We will keep you informed of its progress. Keep in touch with your elected officials.
